Red Bull Racing niet van plan haar coureurs te muilkorven

Red Bull Racing pleegt geen censuur op de uitspraken van haar rijders en is niet van plan daar verandering in te brengen. Dat is de reactie van teambaas Christian Horner op de ophef over een opmerking van Sebastian Vettel in de aanloop naar de Grand Prix van Maleisië. De Duitser noemde het nieuwe motorgeluid waardeloos, it's shit.

Autosport meldt dat Jean Todt, voorzitter van de internationale autosportbond FIA, niet gelukkig was met deze uitlatingen. Horner kan zich er niet druk over maken. "Alle coureurs hebben het recht om hun mening te uiten. Sebastian heeft gewoon zijn standpunt verwoordt en daar mag je iemand niet voor veroordelen. Hij is niet de enige met deze mening. Meningsverschillen hou je altijd en iedereen heeft recht op een eigen mening."

De FIA heeft Vettel en Red Bull Racing niet op het matje geroepen. "Dit weekend heeft niemand er met mij over gesproken. Sebastian heeft alleen gezegd wat hij denkt. In plaats van daar een probleem van te maken kunnen we dat beter toejuichen. Helaas leven we in een politiek correcte wereld. De filosofie van Red Bull is, hoe lastig dat soms ook is, dat de rijders vrijheid van meningsuiting hebben", aldus Horner.
