Virgin Racing achterhaalt oorzaak losse voorvleugel

Virgin Racing heeft de oorzaak voor het losraken van de voorvleugel gevonden en hoopt de boel afgelopen nacht verholpen te hebben met ingevlogen reserve-onderdelen. De tweede testdag van het nieuwe team kwam abrupt ten einde toen de VR-01 van Timo Glock zonder aanwijsbare aanleiding de voorvleugel kwijt raakte. Een probleem met de bevestiging aan de neus van de auto was na afloop de lezing.

Glock over zijn testdag: Dit hoort bij het onderdeel zijn van een nieuw team, we nemen het zoals het is en proberen zoveel mogelijk te rijden. Bij de presentatie zei ik al dat we problemen tegen zouden komen waarvan niemand het bestaan nog wist. Dat is normaal. Het is zaak de problemen zo snel mogelijk op te lossen en daar zijn tests voor. Natuurlijk is het beter om meer kilometers te rijden en meer data te vergaren, maar het is duidelijk dat we nog veel uit moeten vogelen en dit is daar een deel van.

Glock denkt dat ontwerper Nick Wirth het probleem voor vandaag, als Lucas di Grassi mag testen, heeft verholpen. Nick is erg bezig met de veiligheid. Hij wil een solide auto zonder problemen. De voorvleugel was zeker een onverwacht probleem en daar werken we aan, maar ik heb geen twijfels. Het moet goed komen.
