Oud-coureur Al Pease overleden op 92-jarige leeftijd

Al Pease, die in de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw twee Grands Prix reed, is zondag overleden. Zijn wieg stond in Groot-Brittannie, maar na de Tweede Wereldoorlog vestigde hij zich in Canada. Daar schreef hij zich van 1967 tot en met 1969 drie maal in voor de Canadese Grand Prix.

Pease maakte telkens gebruik van een Eagle-Climax. In 1967 en 1969 kwalificeerde hij zich respectievelijk als vijftiende en zeventiende. In 1968 kon hij niet starten door motorproblemen. Hij haalde bij zijn eerste poging wel de finish, maar omdat hij 43 ronden achter lag door batterijproblemen werd hij niet in de klassering opgenomen. In 1969 kreeg hij de zwarte vlag omdat zijn verouderde auto zo langzaam was dat hij de leiders in de weg reed. Pease werd 92 jaar oud.
