Geen behoefte aan psycholoog bij Mercedes-coureurs

Het team van Mercedes heeft de hulp ingeroepen van een sportpsycholoog. Ceri Evans heeft de opdracht gekregen om de engineers en monteurs te helpen om met de druk om te gaan. Hij heeft nog geen contact gehad met de coureurs. Als het aan Lewis Hamilton en Nico Rosberg ligt, komt het daar voorlopig ook niet van.

Het duo van Mercedes heeft geen behoefte aan een psycholoog. Hamilton is helder. "Nooit. Ik heb nooit een psycholoog nodig gehad en dat zal ook nimmer gebeuren", begint de winnaar van de afgelopen drie Grands Prix. "Dus daar hoeven we het verder nooit meer over te hebben, tenzij ik me heel gek ga gedragen."

Rosberg staat al net zo afwijzend tegenover de bemoeienissen van een psycholoog als zijn teamgenoot. "Ik ga lekker door met waar ik mee bezig ben, daar voel ik me prettig bij. Ik heb alleen een normaal weekend nodig. Daar schort het de laatste tijd aan. Daar concentreer ik me op om het tij te keren."
