Smedley onder de indruk van windtunnel bij Williams

Rob Smedley is maar wat blij dat hij niet meer in de windtunnel van Ferrari hoeft te werken. De Scuderia renoveerde de faciliteiten vorig jaar omdat de cijfers uit de gedateerde windtunnel niet overeen kwamen met de werkelijkheid. Ferrari maakte maandenlang gebruik van de windtunnel van Toyota in Keulen.

Smedley stapte de winter over naar Williams en merkt nu hoe het ook kan. "Bij Williams is de correlatie tussen de windtunnel en het circuit geweldig. In vergelijking met wat ik gewend was heeft dat zeer veel indruk op me gemaakt. Alle nieuwe onderdelen die we meenemen naar de circuits eindigen ook daadwerkelijk op de auto, ze maken ons pakket echt beter."

Williams heeft een voortvarende start van het seizoen achter de rug, met 46 punten in vijf races. Dat is bijna tien keer zoveel als in heel 2013. Nu resteert de zware taak om dat vol te houden en daarbij zal de door Smedley geroemde windtunnel een grote rol spelen.
