Sir Jack Brabham op 88-jarige leeftijd overleden

Een legende uit de autosportgeschiedenis is niet meer. Sir Jack Brabham, drievoudig wereldkampioen in de Formule 1, is in zijn huis in Gold Coast overleden. De Australiër had al jaren problemen met zijn nieren. Brabham werd 88 jaar.

Hij veroverde in 1959, 1960 en 1966 de wereldtitel in de Formule 1. Brabham racete vanaf 1962 een aantal seizoenen voor zijn eigen, gelijknamige team. Mexico 1970 was zijn laatste van 126 Grands Prix. Brabham laat een vrouw, drie zonen en twee kleinzonen achter.
