De derde vrije training is door Lewis Hamilton als snelste afgesloten. De Brit was nipt sneller dan concurrenten Daniel Ricciardo en Sebastian Vettel in de wagens van Red Bull Racing.

De training werd verreden onder zonnige omstandigheden en een felblauwe lucht. Afgezien van wat coureurs die te laat remden bij diverse bochten gebeurde er weinig spectaculairs.

De kwalificatie vanmiddag zal om 14.00 uur Nederlandse tijd starten.

    Het lijkt een super spannende kwalificatie te gaan worden tussen Mercedes en Redbull, en ook meteen bepalend voor morgen. Mocht Lewis op pole komen te staan en Rosberg moet minimaal 1 Redbull voor zich laten en hij komt er na de start niet gelijk voorbij.. Dan is de race meteen al zo goed als beslist. Ik kijk er naar uit!

      Zijn deze tijden een beetje een realistisch beeld van de verhoudingen voorin, of heeft Mercedes deze tijden veel vroeger neergezet?

      Nee in de hele vrije training waren beide auto's zeer aan elkaar gewaagd op zowel de zachte als de superzachte band. Ik weet natuurlijk niet met welke brandstofniveaus ze gereden hebben, maar het ziet er naar uit dat Redbull een goede kans maakt op de pole.

      Toen ik keek stond Mercedes op de zachte band "gewoon" een volle seconde voor de RB's hoor. Die mengden zich alleen op supersoft in de strijd.

      Gewaagd is een groot woord denk ik. Op de harde band was Mercedes ongeveer een halve seconde sneller. Rosberg heeft veel in de pits gestaan en Hamilton reed in z'n snelste ronde niet perfect, liet zo een paar tienden liggen in de 1e sector. Ook was Hamilton niet helemaal tevreden over de balans. Dus verbaas je niet dat Mercedes in de kwalificatie op zijn minst 3 tienden sneller is dan RBR.

      Op de supersofts was het verschil kleiner, maar op zacht kwam Ricciardo toch ook al best dichtbij, 3 a 4 tienden was het toch?

    Ik denk niet dat het verschil zo klein is als deze vrije training doet vermoeden........volgens mij heeft Mercedes nog aardig wat in de pijplijn, en moet er met minstens een halve seconde worden gerekend.
    Dus of het echt zo spannend wordt......wellicht als iemand een flinke fout maakt en dan in verkeer niet meer kan verbeteren, dat denk ik eerder.
    Maar, over ruim 2 uur weten we meer!!

      Ik mag Vettel niet, maar hij reed sneller dan deze tijdenlijst liet zien. Hij werd vaak opgehouden en verloor alleen tijd in sector 3. Hij kan hier maar zo voor RIC starten.

    Toch nog een lichtpuntje voor Ferrari. Ik had namelijk niet verwacht dat ze het hier nog zo goed gingen doen. Ze staan dichter bij Mercedes dan normaal dus zou je zeggen dat vooral de motor de boosdoener is voor de tegenvallende prestaties. Als de F14T-B goed uitpakt kan het maar zo zijn dat ze met RBR kunnen strijden.
