Ecclestone gooit deur voor Franse Grand Prix in 2015 dicht

Magny-Cours dacht volgend seizoen weer een Formule 1-evenement te mogen organiseren, maar dat blijkt ijdele hoop geweest te zijn. Frankrijk behoort niet tot de gegadigden voor een plek op de kalender voor 2015, onthulde Bernie Ecclestone in Monaco.

De Franse Grand Prix staat niet op de shortlist waaruit de commerciële baas van de Formule 1 een schema voor volgend seizoen samen stelt. Ecclestone: "Nee. Frankrijk klopt nadrukkelijk op de deur, maar ik denk niet dat we dat kunnen doen."

Een evenement in Azerbeidzjan, op een stratencircuit in hoofdstad Bakoe, is wel in kannen en kruiken. "Ja, dat is allemaal geregeld en zal volgend jaar plaats vinden", aldus Ecclestone. De race valt onder de noemer Grand Prix van Europa.
