Virgin Racing bevestigt Soucek als reserverijder

Andy Soucek is officieel aangesteld als test- en reservecoureur bij Virgin Racing. De 24-jarige Spanjaard won vorig jaar het Formule 2-kampioenschap en testte als beloning in december voor Williams. Sindsdien werkte hij aan een contract in de Formule 1. Hij vervangt bij Virgin Racing Alvaro Parente, wiens sponsor zich terug trok.

Soucek: Ik ben verguld om me bij Virgin Racing te voegen. Deze rol is perfect voor mij om me voor te bereiden op de Formule 1-omgeving, waar mijn ambities voor de lange termijn liggen. Ik wil dingen opsteken van Timo Glock en Lucas di Grassi en hoop veel te leren van de technische bijeenkomsten en mijn tijd in de simulator. Ik wil Nick Wirth en John Booth bedanken voor hun vertrouwen in mij. Het is spannend en motiverend om deel uit te maken van een nieuwe structuur in deze uitdagende sport en ik hoop bij te dragen aan de ontwikkeling van de auto en het team om zo snel mogelijk progressie te boeken.
