Marko bestrijdt claim tegen Renault en flirt met Volkswagen

Red Bull Racing bereidt geen schadeclaim tegen motorenpartner Renault voor. En ook de flirt met Volkswagen om de rol van Renault over te nemen berust op onzin. Red Bull-motorsportadviseur Helmut Marko zou verantwoordelijk zijn geweest voor die berichten, maar hij bestrijdt dat.

"Dat verhaal over Volkswagen was compleet verzonnen", begint Marko in Die Welt. "Ons doel is om met Renault te werken. Rond de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix maken we een inschatting over de situatie. Daar bepalen of we op deze manier verder gaan of veranderingen doorvoeren om de boel te verbeteren. Dat is de realiteit."

"Een schadeclaim tegen Renault? Lariekoek. We klagen niemand aan, zeker Renault niet. We balen alleen van de tekortkomingen van onze motor, dat is het enige. Onze frustratie bestaat er ook uit dat wij vinden dat Renault te laat reageerde op de problemen die al vroeg in het voorseizoen duidelijk werden. Maar meer ook niet."
