McLaren rekent op stap vooruit met pakket voor Oostenrijk

Het team van McLaren bevindt zich midden in een herstructurering. Directeur Eric Boullier voerde al de nodige veranderingen aan de werkwijze door om de Britse renstal terug richting de top te dirigeren. Dat vertaalde zich nog nauwelijks naar het circuit, maar op dat vlak is ook een stap aanstaande. McLaren haalt de aerodynamica van de MP4-29 overhoop voor Oostenrijk.

Boullier verwacht dat die upgrade een aardige sprong vooruit teweeg brengt. "Het draait er natuurlijk om onderdelen zo snel mogelijk te produceren, maar het hangt ook af van je uitgangspositie. Het klopt dat we downforce tekort kwamen aan het begin van dit seizoen en tegelijkertijd een nieuwe koers voor het team probeerden uit te stippelen."

"Het pakket voor Oostenrijk vertegenwoordigt een aanzienlijke stap vooruit waarmee we hopelijk het gat naar de teams voor ons dichten. We zullen zeker nog geen races winnen, maar het is een aanzienlijke upgrade om in elk geval de achterstand te verkleinen."
