Mallya: "Kunnen wij Williams nog inhalen? Ja, dat kan"

Het team van Force India is na een sterke seizoensstart weggezakt naar de vijfde plaats bij de constructeurs. Nog altijd geen klassering om je als privé-team voor te schamen, maar met McLaren op een puntje achterstand is een verdere daling een reëel scenario. Teambaas Vijay Mallya kijkt echter niet over zijn schouder, zijn blik is naar de teams boven Force India gericht.

Met name Williams, dat 37 punten voor staat op de Indiase renstal. Mallya: "Kunnen wij Williams nog inhalen? Ja, dat kan. Dan dienen we wel de mouwen op te stropen en hard te werken, maar er is nog een lange weg te gaan. Williams doet het geweldig dit jaar, daar verdienen ze complimenten voor. Ze presteren net als wij boven verwachting. De mogelijkheden om ze nog voorbij te gaan zijn er wel."

"Tot en met de achtste race bivakkeerden we op de vierde plek. Op dit moment staan we vijfde. Dat is prima. We hadden niet verwacht om die vierde positie tot het einde van het seizoen vast te houden. De verschillen met Ferrari, Williams en McLaren zijn nog te overzien. Met een beter weekend dan Hongarije is nog van alles mogelijk, dus ook meer dan onze huidige vijfde klassering."

Williams ligt behoorlijk voor op Force India. Ik zie niet in hoe ze dat bij FI voor elkaar gaan krijgen. Ik verwacht eerder dat Williams na Spa, Ferrari weer voorbij is dan dat FI het gat gaat dichten. Als je kijkt naar de huidge vorm van beide teams denk ik dat Mallya zich beter kan focussen om McLaren achter zich te houden.

Toen ging de wekker en werd hij wakker ...

Wat hebben dat soort uitspraken nou voor zin? Iedereen ziet toch gewoon dat ze steeds verder naar achteren schuiven?

Waar Hulkenberg eerst nog rond de 5e a 6e plek finishte en Perez rond plek 9, zitten ze sinds Oostenrijk respectievelijk rond plek 8 en 10.

Of ze moeten met een ginorme update gaan komen, want anders is McLaren ze voorbij na Spa.
