Alexander Rossi voerde reeds gesprekken met Gene Haas

Haas Formula treedt pas over anderhalf jaar toe tot de Formule 1, maar Alexander Rossi en zijn management hebben reeds contact gelegd met eigenaar Gene Haas. Rossi, momenteel test- en reserverijder bij Marussia, ruikt zijn kans schoon voor een debuut op het hoogste niveau.

Haas wil een Amerikaan stallen bij zijn eigen renstal en Rossi bezit die nationaliteit. Aan Crash.net laat hij weten: "Ik ben opgewonden voor Gene. Zijn passie en toewijding om in de Formule 1 te stappen en deze sport dichter bij de Amerikanen te brengen verdienen serieus respect."

"De belangstelling vanuit de Verenigde Staten neemt elk jaar toe en de hoeveelheid steun die ik ontvang is echt fenomenaal. Amerikanen scharen zich graag achter een atleet en met een eigen team onder aanvoering van een succesvolle ondernemer als Gene zou dat fantastisch zijn."

"We hebben uiteraard al gesproken met Haas en een Amerikaanse coureur zou het helemaal afmaken. Als ze mij de kans gunnen, ben ik er klaar voor. Uiteindelijk is een fulltime stoeltje in de Formule 1 mijn doel, daar werk ik naartoe."
