FIA zet licht op groen voor Grand Prix op circuit van Sotsji

Na een bezoek van een delegatie van de internationale autosportbond FIA staat niets de eerste Grand Prix van Rusland meer in de weg. De inspectie van het circuit van Sotsji, de Sochi Autodrom, verliep naar wens, de federatie heeft de baan goedgekeurd.

Persbureau Xinhua citeert FIA-wedstrijddirecteur Charlie Whiting: "Het circuit van Sotsji verkeert in een goede staat en kan een licentie voor Formule 1-races tegemoet zien." De eerste Russische Grand Prix is gepland voor 12 oktober aanstaande.

Promotor Sergei Vorobyov verkondigde aan persbureau Ria Novosti dat reeds meer dan 30.000 tickets zijn verkocht voor het eerste Formule 1-evenement in Sotsji. Hij meldde tevens dat een van de huidige Formule 1-coureurs maandag een bezoek brengt aan het circuit.
