Luchtmacht verricht demo met Apache bij VKV City Racing

Het Apache demo team vliegt op zondag 31 augustus een demonstratie tijdens het VKV City Racing evenement in Rotterdam. Tijdens het evenement waarbij het publiek kennis maakt met de wereld van de Formule 1, zal ook de Apache zich presenteren aan het grote publiek. Het Apache demo team van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht laat zien waartoe een AH-64D Apache helikopter in staat is.

Komende zondag staat VKV City Racing in het teken van winnen, de snelste en de beste willen zijn. Eigenschappen die op veel terreinen binnen het werkgebied van Defensie kenmerkend zijn. Ook personeel van Defensie zal toppresentaties moeten neerzetten in hun werk omdat ze in situaties terecht kunnen komen die voor anderen moeilijk of gevaarlijk zijn en falen dan geen optie is. Dat betekent veel trainen en oefenen. Evenals de coureurs van de Formule 1.

Om 13.30 uur vindt de demonstratie plaats tussen de Willemsbrug en de Erasmusbrug. Tijdens de demo is goed te zien welke vaardigheden de vliegers bezitten om het maximale uit de helikopter te halen. Het demonstratieteam bestaat uit twee vliegers, twee coaches en zeven techneuten. De vliegers halen tijdens de show niet alleen het beste uit de helikopter maar ook uit zichzelf.

De Nederlandse Luchtmacht is de eerste ter wereld die met de Apache-helikopter demonstraties verzorgt. Het Apache Solo Display Team verzorgt dit jaar shows in binnen- en buitenland als visitekaartje van Nederland. Hiermee laat het demo team zien waar de Luchtmacht voor staat: Airpower.

Dat is raar, want volgens de KLu waren alle inzetbare Apaches in Mali en zou er geen een beschikbaar zijn voor een missie in Oost-Oekraïne.

  Een demo is iets anders dan een missie uitvoeren. Daar heb je meer dan 1 helikopter voor nodig.
