Red Bull Racing ziet geen heil in toepassen teamorders

Het team van Red Bull Racing geeft geen gehoor aan de roep om teamorders in te voeren en alles op Daniel Ricciardo te zetten. De Australiër heeft nog een kleine kans op de titel, maar hij hoeft (nog) niet op de steun van Sebastian Vettel te rekenen. Red Bull Racing laat de coureurs gewoon vrij racen. De kans dat Ricciardo het duo van Mercedes nog voorbij streeft is toch te verwaarlozen.

Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner: "We laten onze rijders gewoon racen. We vertrouwen er op dat ze hard en eerlijk wiel-aan-wiel kunnen racen, zonder dat het mis gaat. De achterstand van Daniel op de Mercedes-coureurs is enorm, het heeft geen zin voor ons om in te grijpen. Daniel en Sebastian mogen het zelf op de baan bepalen en zo hebben ze geracet op Monza."

Hij was wel weer vol lof over het optreden van Ricciardo. "Enkele inhaalacties van Daniel waren verbluffend. Hij reed echt met precisie. Geen van onze coureurs heeft zich verremd voor bocht 1 en schoot daar rechtdoor. Voor iemand die voor het seizoen nog een onbeschreven blad was qua inhalen laat Daniel dit jaar toch heel mooie dingen zien."
