Caterham en Marussia optimistisch over hun voortbestaan

Caterham en Marussia voelen zich niet aangesproken door Sauber-teambaas Monisha Kaltenborn. Zij verkondigde dit weekend dat ze niet zeker weet of alle elf huidige Formule 1-teams ook volgend jaar op de grid staan. De meest waarschijnlijke kandidaten om af te vallen zijn achterhoedeteams Caterham en Marussia, maar zij zijn optimistisch over hun voortbestaan.

Caterham is dit jaar in nieuwe handen beland en de investeerders staan garant voor de uitgaven van de Maleisische renstal. Teambaas Manfredi Ravetto: "We testen onze auto voor 2015 momenteel in de windtunnel van Toyota in Keulen. Dat mag echt niet omdat ze ons zo aardig vinden. Dat we Toyota betalen is een duidelijk signaal dat we toegewijd zijn om ook volgend jaar van de partij te zijn."

Marussia kan het zich ook veroorloven om in de Formule 1 actief te blijven, meldt directeur Graeme Lowdon aan Sporting Life. "Ik wil niet de verkeerde indruk wekken door te zeggen dat alles in orde is, want het is een uitdagende operatie in deze omgeving. Maar we hebben de verplichting om correct te handelen. Als je daar niet in gelooft kan je beter stoppen. We zouden hier niet zijn als we niet zouden denken dat we het kunnen redden."

Ik zie beide teams graag blijven, mits er wel minimaal per team 1 belovende coureur in zit. Bianchi doet toch af en toe hele leuke dingen in die Marussia.
Ook Ricciardo bij HRT was een genot om naar te kijken, meteen bloedsnel!

Wat mij betreft is Sainz Jr. een prima man om alvast in de Caterham te laten wennen. Red Bull betaalt op zijn beurt centen aan Caterham en de ideale combinatie van paydriver/talentvolle rijder is bereikt.

Ik blijf het lastig vinden. Aan de ene kant heb ik zoiets van, weg met die teams die niks presteren en zo'n beetje voor spek en bonen mee rijden.
Anderzijds hebben zulke teams er ook voor gezorgd dat we een paar niet onverdienstelijke coureurs hebben gehad. Alonso en Webber zijn toch bij Minardi begonnen als ik mij niet vergis.
Zou het geen idee zijn om twee klasses te hebben in de F1?
