Lotus F1 Racing dicht bij overeenkomst met Petrobras

Petrobras keert mogelijk spoedig terug als naam in de Formule 1. De Braziliaanse oliemaatschappij was van 1998 tot en met 2008 partner van Williams, maar keerde de koningsklasse van de autosport vorig jaar de rug toe. Een rentree is nu echter in de maak als sponsor van Lotus F1 Racing.

UOL Esporte en O Globo berichten dat de onderhandelingen in een vergevorderd stadium verkeren en waarschijnlijk voor het einde van deze maand afgerond worden. Petrobras zou dan bij de Grand Prix van Spanje voor het eerst op de Lotus F1 Racing T127 staan. De levering van brandstof en olie lijkt voor dit seizoen uitgesloten vanwege een gebrek aan ontwikkelingstijd. De overeenkomst zou Lotus F1 Racing tussen de 5 en 9 miljoen dollar per jaar opleveren.
