GPDA waarschuwt voor overhaaste conclusies na ongeluk

Alexander Wurz is eind vorige week benoemd tot nieuwe voorzitter van de rijdersvakbond GPDA en hij heeft zich meteen laten gelden. De Oostenrijker begrijpt dat iedereen na de horrorcrash van Jules Bianchi in Japan schreeuwt dat zoiets nooit had mogen gebeuren, maar de oud Formule 1-coureur waarschuwt voor overhaaste conclusies.

Wurz pleit voor gedegen onderzoek. "Het is logisch dat zo'n afgrijselijk ongeluk vragen oproept en meningen creëert. Dat zit in de aard van de mens, we verlangen zo snel mogelijk antwoorden, conclusies en oplossingen. Alle coureurs snappen de noodzaak om dit voorval te onderzoeken en te bespreken. Maar we moeten geen conclusies trekken voordat we alle bewijzen en informatie bekeken hebben en alle partijen gehoord zijn."

"We gaan liever niet in debat over deze crash totdat alle informatie beschikbaar is. Ik kan alle rijders aanbevelen om zich niet in de publieke discussie te mengen. Het is voor het proces en voor de privacy van Jules en zijn familie beter dat dit achter gesloten deuren plaats vindt. We moeten de experts de ruimte geven en alle betrokken autoriteiten steun en medewerking verlenen. We willen dit goed afhandelen, zonder overhaaste conclusies."

Los van het feit dat eik het vreemd vind dat een voormalige en niet al te illustere coureur de GPDA leidt, heeft hij hier overschot van gelijk. Goede binnenkomer!

  Waarom vindt je dat vreemd? Was z'n voorganger zo'n illustere coureur dan? Deze functie vereist andere kwaliteiten als rijderskwaliteiten, waar Alexander Wurz trouwens ook over beschikt.
