Monza verzekert zich tot en met 2016 van Italiaanse Grand Prix

Het circuit van Monza is minstens tot en met 2016 nog gastheer van de Grand Prix van Italië. Het contract dat na 2012 afliep is door Bernie Ecclestone en baanmanagement Sias met vier jaar verlengd.

Er heerste de afgelopen tijd wat onzekerheid over de toekomst van Monza. De Italiaanse hoofdstad Rome is voor 2013 een Grand Prix beloofd en de vrees was dat Rome de plek over zou nemen van Monza. Dat blijkt dus niet het geval, het historische circuit van Monza behoudt zijn plek op de kalender.
