Kamui Kobayashi: "We moeten competitiever zijn in Melbourne"

Kamui Kobayashi begon precies een week geleden in Bahrein aan zijn eerste volledige Formule 1-seizoen. De Japanner kwam er, net als teamgenoot De la Rosa, met zijn Sauber echter niet aan te pas in de woestijn terwijl het team toch wel een goede winter achter de rug had. Kobayashi verwacht dat zijn team in Melbourne volgend weekend veel competitiever zal zijn.

"Natuurlijk hoop ik dat we veel competitiever zullen zijn in Melbourne dan dat we in Bahrein waren, we zullen wel moeten", begon de Japanner. "Ik ken het circuit in Albert Park alleen van de Toyota-simulator, maar de lay-out lag me wel. Ik ben daar al twee keer als reserverijder aanwezig geweest en het is een geweldige stad. De toeschouwers zijn ook echte fans, dus ik kan niet wachten om te gaan racen in Melbourne."

"Voor mij begint nu een vier weken durende reis. Ik zal zometeen naar Australië vertrekken en na de race reizen we meteen door naar Kuala Lumpur, Maleisië. Voordat we daarna naar China gaan voor de vierde race, zal ik nog wat tijd in Japan doorbrengen. Ik heb in ieder geval erg veel zin in de komende tijd."
