Haas: "Scepsis is logisch bij een groot avontuur als dit"

Gene Haas heeft veel reacties gehad op het nieuws dat hij met een eigen renstal toe zal treden tot de Formule 1. Daar zaten enthousiaste, maar ook zure reacties tussen. Niet iedereen gelooft dat Haas F1 Team in 2016 daadwerkelijk op de grid staat. Het zou namelijk niet de eerste keer zijn dat een Amerikaans Formule 1-project mislukt.

Haas trekt zich daar niks van aan. In gesprek met CNN vertelde hij: "Er is alle reden om te twijfelen, het is een groot avontuur. Velen hebben het voor ons geprobeerd, zonder succes. Alle scepsis is dus wel logisch. Het is een natuurlijke reactie van mensen om iets niet te geloven totdat ze het met eigen ogen zien. Wij gaan het laten zien."

Dat in de afgelopen week Caterham en Marussia omvielen schrikt de Amerikaan niet af. Haas: "Die teams hebben veel fouten gemaakt. Ze beschikten niet over de middelen en hun auto's zaten niet goed in elkaar omdat ze in alle haast in het diepe zijn gesprongen. Wij doen het anders. Wij leren de fijne kneepjes van het vak van Ferrari."
