Ferrari-president Luca di Montezemolo probeert de gemoederen binnen de Formule 1-renstal van zijn merk rustig te houden. Het Italiaanse team was in de wintertests ijzersterk en bekroonde de goede voorbereiding in Bahrein met een dubbelzege.

Di Montezemolo waakt voor te veel euforie. "We moeten bescheiden blijven. Het is belangrijk om realistisch te blijven en te onthouden dat er nog veel voor verbetering vatbaar is, zoals de snelheid en de betrouwbaarheid. In Melbourne is het vitaal om op zaterdag goed te kwalificeren, want op stratencircuits gaat de strijd om de winst meestal tussen de coureurs die vooraan starten."
