Manager: "Massa zelden zo gelukkig als bij Williams"

Felipe Massa heeft bij Williams de waardering gevonden die hij zo miste in zijn laatste jaren bij Ferrari. Dat stelt zijn zaakwaarnemer Nicolas Todt in gesprek met Auto Hebdo. Massa heeft zich dit seizoen bij Williams gerevancheerd voor de teleurstellende breuk met de Scuderia.

Todt: "Je weet dat je leven verandert als je maar genoeg aandacht krijgt en je gewild voelt. Daar was bij Ferrari lang niet altijd sprake van. De kans om wraak te nemen op een situatie waar hij geen controle over had was wel een drijfveer voor Felipe. En dat hij eindelijk weer een goede machine in handen kreeg motiveerde hem alleen maar meer."

"De omstandigheden waren bij Ferrari niet altijd zo dat hij punten kon scoren, en dan heb ik het niet over pech. Dat Valtteri Bottas eerder op het podium stond vond Felipe niet erg. Integendeel, het sterkte hem in de gedachte dat de auto en het team echt goed zijn."

"Hij is volkomen toegewijd, op alle vlakken. Felipe weet dat hij ook geen twintig meer is, maar hij weigert op te geven. Ik heb hem zelden zo gelukkig gezien als nu. Williams is een op en top Britse grootmacht, maar het is meer ontspannen. Er is minder druk en minder politiek."
