Testupdate 14.00 uur: Vandoorne stopt in tweede run

Deze week vindt de laatste Formule 1-test van dit jaar plaats. In Abu Dhabi rijden voornamelijk testrijders en jonge coureurs, waaronder Max Verstappen. We proberen jullie via een uurlijkse update zo mogelijk op de hoogte te houden van de gebeurtenissen op Yas Marina Circuit.

De hernieuwde samenwerking tussen McLaren en Honda verloopt op de eerste dag van deze testweek nog niet heel geweldig. Voor de lunchpauze waren elektronische problemen spelbreker. Even na 15.00 uur plaatselijke tijd trapte Stoffel Vandoorne het programma af, maar de vreugde was van korte duur. Hij viel in zijn tweede stint stil op de baan. Het team onderzoekt de oorzaak.

Max Verstappen is een plekje gezakt. De Nederlander is ingehaald door Charles Pic. Verstappen rondde Yas Marina Circuit inmiddels 34 keer. Will Stevens is het meest productief met negentig ronden. De Caterham-coureur voelt vooral het nieuwe rubber van Pirelli aan de tand.
