Testupdate 14.00 uur: Dramatische dag voor Vandoorne

Deze week vindt de laatste Formule 1-test van dit jaar plaats. In Abu Dhabi rijden voornamelijk testrijders en jonge coureurs, waaronder Max Verstappen. We proberen jullie via een uurlijkse update zo mogelijk op de hoogte te houden van de gebeurtenissen op Yas Marina Circuit.

Met nog zo'n anderhalf uur te gaan was daar eindelijk Stoffel Vandoorne die met de McLaren-Honda het ruime sop koos. De hernieuwde samenwerking tussen McLaren en Honda is bij deze test nog geen groot succes. Elektronische problemen verstoorden het werk tot nu toe. En in de tweede run van Vandoorne was het weer raak. De Belg moest de MP4-29H aan de kant zetten.

Max Verstappen is nog niet teruggekeerd op het asfalt. De tijd begint te dringen voor Toro Rosso, met nog een uur te gaan op deze testdag. Alex Lynn is ondertussen sneller dan Esteban Ocon en Will Stevens heeft de rode lantaarn overgedragen aan Marcus Ericsson. Wehrlein is nog steeds de snelste.

Het is mooi voor McLaren dat ze deze kinderziektes alvast kunnen fixen. Mercedes, Ferrari en Renault hadden die luxe niet in 2013..
