Alexander Rossi concentreert zich op de IndyCar

Alexander Rossi richt zich voor het vervolg van zijn loopbaan op de IndyCar. De Amerikaan is teruggekeerd naar eigen land om daar voor zijn kansen in de Amerikaanse raceklasse te gaan. De droom om ooit in de Formule 1 te racen komt voor hem waarschijnlijk niet meer uit.

In België was hij er dit jaar dichtbij, toen Max Chilton door Marussia aan de kant geschoven werd vanwege betalingsproblemen. De pret was van korte duur, na de eerste vrije training op Spa-Francorchamps kon Rossi de wagen weer aan Chilton overhandigen. "Ik ben terug in de VS en concentreer me voor volgend jaar op de IndyCar. Ik ben al een tijdje met teams in gesprek", aldus Rossi.

"Ik ben nooit in een Grand Prix gestart, maar Marussia heeft me dit seizoen wel vijf keer opgeroepen om te racen. Daar is niet iedereen zich van bewust. Om wat voor reden dan ook ging het steeds op het laatste moment niet door, vaak had dat een financiële oorzaak. Vertrouwen is er altijd geweest, maar met twee teams minder op de grid is het extra lastig om een zitje te bemachtigen."
