Ecclestone en Di Montezemolo terug in F1-bestuur

CVC Capital, de eigenaar van de commerciële rechten voor de Formule 1, heeft het bestuur van de Formula One Group onder handen genomen. Bernie Ecclestone moest ten tijde van de rechtszaak tegen hem zijn positie in het bestuur afstaan, maar dat is nu herroepen. De 84-jarige Brit blijft actief als directeur van de Formula One Group.

Naast Ecclestone keert ook Luca di Montezemolo terug in het Formule 1-bestuur. De Italiaan bekleedde eerder al de functie van niet-uitvoerende directeur en die positie gaat hij nu weer innemen. De voormalig president van Ferrari is niet meer werkzaam in de Formule 1, maar beschikt wel over genoeg kennis en ervaring om toezicht te houden.

Verder is ook Paul Walsh benoemd tot niet-uitvoerende directeur in de Formula One Group. Walsh was lange tijd de beoogde nieuwe Formule 1-voorzitter, maar de voormalig topman van Diageo zag dat niet zitten. Hij is momenteel voorzitter van de Compass Group en niet-uitvoerend directeur bij FedEx en Unilever. Peter Brabeck-Letmathe blijft voorzitter van het F1-bestuur.
