Nieuw contract Hamilton bij Mercedes formaliteit

De contractverlenging van Lewis Hamilton bij Mercedes is slechts een kwestie van tijd. Dat stelt teampresident Niki Lauda tegenover persbureau SID. Regerend wereldkampioen Hamilton en Mercedes hebben beide de intentie om met elkaar door te gaan.

Lauda: "Ik maak me geen enkele zorgen. Beide partijen hebben de wens uitgesproken om een nieuwe overeenkomst af te sluiten, dus dat is een formaliteit. Het gaat gebeuren, de vraag is alleen nog wanneer. We hebben geen haast."

Hamilton begint dit jaar aan zijn derde seizoen in dienst van Mercedes. Met de Duitse renstal veroverde hij in 2014 zijn tweede wereldtitel in de Formule 1. Zijn eerste kampioenschap dateert uit 2008, met zijn vorige werkgever McLaren.
