Marussia in gesprek met investeerder over redding

Bij het team van Manor/Marussia is er opeens schot in de zaak gekomen. De renstal leek ten dode opgeschreven, maar de veiling van de bolides uit 2014, reserve-onderdelen en ander materiaal die voor woensdag op het programma stond is om onduidelijke redenen uitgesteld. Sky Sports F1 en BBC Sport berichten dat een reddingsoperatie voor Marussia in volle gang is.

Het team zou in een vergevorderd stadium in onderhandeling zijn met een investeerder. Teambaas John Booth schat de kans dat Manor/Marussia het overleeft tegenover BBC in op groot. "Een redding is zeker in de maak. Echter, het is complexe materie, dat vergt tijd. Het is nodig om in de komende weken tot een akkoord te komen."

Teamdirecteur Graeme Lowdon voegde daar tegenover Sky Sports F1 aan toe: "Technisch is het mogelijk. Manor is al geruime tijd in de autosport actief. We werken heel hard aan een reddingsplan. Het is zeker nog mogelijk dat het team komend seizoen aan de start staat. Dat zou goed zijn voor de Formule 1 en voor de fans."
