Mexico ligt op schema voor Grand Prix in november

De renovatie van het Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez te Mexico City verloopt volgens plan. Dat liet Christian Epp, directeur bij Tilke GmbH, aan persbureau EFE weten. Mexico keert dit jaar terug op de Formule 1-kalender met een Grand Prix op 1 november.

Epp: "De oude pits is vernietigd en het nieuwe gebouw is ongeveer voor zestig procent klaar. In maart beginnen we met het neerleggen van de asfaltlagen, dat moet eind juli af zijn. We vallen de werkzaamheden op verschillende fronten aan, het gaat tot nu toe prima en we voelen ons op ons gemak met het schema."

Mexico was in 1992 voor het laatst gastheer van een Formule 1-race. De beroemde Peraltada-bocht maakt geen onderdeel uit van de lay-out voor de Grand Prix. In plaats daarvan duiken de coureurs een groot stadion in waar een chicane wordt aangelegd.
