Honda: "Problemen voelen als een pop-up spelletje"

Honda's Motorsport Chief Yasuhisa Arai geeft aan dat de problemen die de motorenleverancier op dit moment heeft aanvoelen als een 'pop-up spelletje'. McLaren legde slechts 124 ronden af in Barcelona vanwege de problemen met de MGU-K, en volgens Arai wil Honda de kwaliteit van verschillende onderdelen van de motor verbeteren omdat problemen blijven verschijnen.

"We leren veel elke dag, maar komen altijd achter problemen alsof we een pop-up spelletje spelen. We lossen een probleem op en een ander steekt direct haar kop op. Het is erg druk om steeds al die problemen op te lossen. We hebben meer tijd nodig."

Arai heeft echter nog steeds vertrouwen in de Honda-motor, en hoewel de auto achterligt op schema is de motor klaar om gehomologeerd te worden: "Het design rondom de motor is bijna klaar en kan volgende week worden goedgekeurd. Maar er is nog steeds veel data die nagelopen moet worden, zoals de turbodruk. We werken elke dag hard om te kijken wat goed is en wat niet, maar zulke dagen zijn enorm zwaar."

    Renault kende ook zware problemen in de voorbereiding vorig seizoen, maar uiteindelijk wonnen ze toch nog mooi 3 GP's, werd Ricciardo 3de in het coureurskampioenschap en werd Red Bull Racing The best of the rest..

    Vlag McLaren daarom nog niet uit, maar ik vrees ervoor dat de nadelen te groot zijn om als enige te debuteren. De rest heeft al zoveel meer kennis opgegaan en is al zoveel verder in motorontwikkeling.. Ik verwacht dat McLaren in zowel 2015 als 2016 nog niet mee kan gaan doen voor de overwinningen.

      Renault is niet zo goed uit de startblokken gekomen met hun 2/3 totaal vernieuwde motor. Maar Renault heeft nog genoeg tokens over om stappen te maken met updates dus dat kan nog alle kanten op, al is de kans heel klein dat ze hiermee op niveau van Mercedes gaan komen. Daarvoor hadden ze toch met een betere basis moeten komen dan dit lijkt me.

Dit geheimzinnige gedoe roept alleen maar meer vragen op en ik lees één en ander wat mij niet bepaald gerust stelt. Ze komen wel iedere keer met uitgebreide verklaringen over wat er mis is met de auto en waarom ze niet aan rijden toe komen, en nu is het in ene keer volledige radiostilte.

    Er klopt gewoon iets niet..

      Misschien klopte Alonso's hart wel even niet na een stroomstoot.
      Het is inderdaad een vreemd verhaal, en hoop dat we duidelijkheid krijgen.

      Boullier gaf al aan dat het een "normaal" testongeluk betrof. Dat wil dus zeggen dat het ongeval te wijten was aan zaken die normaliter in testfases fout gaan. Dus geen stuurboord van Alonso, geen zieke flauwgevallen Alonso maar gewoon een auto die faalde.
      Wat er dan precies faalde weten ze zelf misschien nog niet eens en als ze het wel precies weten is het misschien weer niet handig en slim om dat te gaan roepen.
      In iedergeval durf ik het wel aan om te zeggen dat dit in de loop van volgende week alsnog naar buiten wordt gebracht. En dan weet alsnog niemand (behalve binnen het team) of dat echt zo is.

      Oorzaak van het falen van een auto is altijd in no-time bekend en wordt vrijwel altijd direct gecommuniceerd naar buiten toe. Ik geloof er niet in dat McLaren niet weet wat er gebeurd is. Ze kunnen echt wel zien wat er mis is aan de auto. Er is een andere reden voor dat ze zo vaag zijn over de toedracht van het ongeluk, en ik hoop dat we daar nog uitsluitsel over gaan krijgen.

      Maar dat Alonso na (wat het lijk) een relatief klein ongeluk, met helikopter moet worden afgevoerd, en vervolgens twee nachten in het ziekenhuis moet doorbrengen, vind ik vreemd. We hebben coureurs zonder moeite zien uitstappen na ongelukken die er een stuk erger uitzagen. Ook die brandplek links van de auto, waar iemand anders op het forum naar verwees, is vreemd. En als ik mr.Monza zie schrijven dat Alonso meerdere keren het bewustzijn schijnt te zijn verloren, volledig gedesoriënteerd was en agressief werd, ga ik mij zorgen maken.

      Wees als McLaren-zijnde gewoon duidelijk over wat er is gebeurd en laat het geheimzinnige gewoon achterwege.

      Misschien heeft Alonso wel een hartinfarct gehad? Hersenbloeding? Onwel geworden door andere reden?

      Dan kun je wel lopen zeuren dat McLaren openheid van zaken moet geven, maar dan is het nog altijd Alonso zijn gezondheid en is hij er verantwoordelijk voor om de details naar buiten te brengen.

    Turbodruk nu nog moeten regelen??? Je zou verwachten dat zoiets op een testbank getest kan worden en dat dat niet hoeft te wachten tot op het circuit...
    Misschien hadden ze toch een tussen-auto voor testen tijdens het seizoen 2014 moeten bouwen... Desnoods op basis van een straatauto, zoals sommige andere merken ook gedaan hebben in 2013. Of een LMS achtige. Dan hadden ze waarschijnlijk al een groot deel van deze problemen eerder kunnen zien.

    Je vraagt je af waar ze dan dat jaar extra voor nodig hadden. Dat de boel niet gelijk samenwerkt is logisch, maar de motor zou toch goed moeten zijn.
    Waarschijnlijk hebben ze afgelopen jaar dan vooral benut om de randvoorwaarden in orde te krijgen en lijken ze nu op extract dezelfde plek te starten als de rest van het veld begin vorig seizoen. Ergens wel jammer al denk ik nog steeds dat ze aan het eind van jet seizoen een van de snelste wagens zullen hebben.

    Ze hebben gewoon zitten slapen bij Honda en McLaren. Een testauto bouwen vorig seizoen was niet nodig volgens hen maar zie nu: ze lopen enorm achter de feiten aan. Ik zeg niet dat het niets kan worden, geloof wel dat het uiteindelijk een goede combinatie kan worden maar ze hebben onnodig een jaar verspeeld.

    ze hebben een 25.9 gereden met softs en zover ik kan lezen was dat ook niet onder full power misschien net aan de helft van de potentie van de motor.

      zegt helemaal niets. Wie zegt dat de andere teams wel onder "full" power hebben gereden. McLaren heeft met Honda een probleem en het was wellicht slimmer geweest om toch vorig jaar mee te doen. Ze niet betrouwbaar en tevens niet snel genoeg. Dit jaar kan je als verloren beschouwen en moet je zien als een leerjaar.
