McLaren: "Alonso herstelt snel maar blijft uit voorzorg in ziekenhuis"

McLaren heeft een officieel bericht naar buiten gebracht over de toestand van Fernando Alonso. In het bericht vertelt het team dat Alonso snel herstelt en inmiddels weer praat met familie, vrienden en de medewerkers van het ziekenshuis. Hij blijft echter wel voorlopig in het ziekenhuis voor observatie.

Wat er precies mis was met de McLaren-coureur maakt het team niet duidelijk. Het team uit Woking laat alleen waten dat verschillende scans van Alonso zijn gemaakt en alles er normaal uitziet.

Later deze week zal het team bekendmaken of Fernando Alonso in actie komt tijdens de laatste testweek in Barcelona of een reservecoureur. Kevin Magnussen en Stoffel Vandoorne zouden hiervoor in aanmerking kunnen komen.

De oorzaak van de crash is volgens McLaren een harde windvlaag. Het team laat weten dat er geen aanwijzingen waren dat de auto van Alonso een mankement had. Volgens McLaren was het sowieso geen elektrische schok die zorgde voor de crash van Alonso, aangezien data laat zien dat het rempedaal was ingedrukt totdat de auto stilstond. Iets dat niet mogelijk zou zijn geweest als Alonso buiten westen was.

De manager van Alonso, Luis Garcia Abad, heeft inmiddels een foto van Alonso vanuit het ziekenhuis gestuurd.

Alonso was natuurlijk die zware Ferrari-motor gewend. Dan schrik je nu wel even als het begint te waaien...

    Nu.nl: "Om hem de kans te geven volledig en rustig te herstellen, blijft hij in het ziekenhuis voor verdere observatie. Ook om bij te komen van de bijwerkingen van de narcose."

    Narcose? Fijn dat het goed gaat met Fernando, maar nu hebben ze hem ineens onder narcose gebracht?

      Heel vreemd idd. Skysports heeft daarover nog geen woord gerept, alhoewel had pastor maldonado een soortgelijke crash in Barcelona, maar niet zulke gevolgen.

      Heel dit verhaal heeft toch een ferm geurtje. Vettel verklaart dat Alonso amper 150 km/u reed. Wordt dan verrast door een windvlaag die hem de muur instuurt. Die kleine crash triggert 15G en Alonso ligt dagen in het ziekenhuis en komt uit narcose. Er is toch meer aan de hand dan ze ons willen doen geloven.

    • Ja Jean ik denk toch dat ie over z'n houdbaarheidsdatum is. Heeft de Scuderia dat net op tijd in de gaten gehad :) Maar nu zonder gekheid (blijft lastig) voorop gesteld ook dat ik het jammer vind dat ie weg is bij Ferrari want had m graag een wdc zien binnenhalen in een rode wagen. Vaag verhaal, ook de narcose die nu ergens opduikt. Maar kan ook weer een vertaalfout zijn. Zou het originele artikel wel willen zien waar dat uit komt. Als het niet echt nodig is zullen ze een patiënt met een hersenschudding geen narcose geven. Die houden ze liever bij kennis en maken ze ook met regelmaat wakker als ie slaapt. Als ie dus wel een narcose heeft gehad is de vraag waarom

    • Ah zie al waar narcose vandaan kont. In de verklaring van McLaren hebben ze hetover routine sedation. Dat kan je als standaard verdoving lezen, hoeft helemaal geen narcose te zijn. Lastig he nu.nl, vertalen.. Zo krijg je idd de vreemdste geruchten

      Ik las op een andere site dat er steeds sterkere geruchten rondgaan dat Alonso onwel geworden zou zijn waardoor hij gecrasht is.

    McLaren's persverklaring:
    We are pleased to confirm that, having been involved in an on-track incident at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Spain) on February 22nd, Fernando Alonso is making a solid recovery in hospital, and is chatting to family, friends and hospital staff.

    From the scene of the incident he was driven to the circuit’s medical centre, where he was given first aid and, as per normal procedures, was sedated in preparation for an airlift to hospital.

    In hospital a thorough and complete analysis of his condition was performed, involving CT scans and MRI scans, all of which were completely normal.

    In order to provide the privacy and tranquillity required to facilitate a peaceful recuperation, he is being kept in hospital for further observation, and to recover from the effects of the medication that successfully managed his routine sedation yesterday.

    We intend to give him every opportunity to make a rapid and complete recovery, and will evaluate in due course whether or not he will participate in the next Barcelona test.

    Over the past 24 hours, we have been carrying out a detailed analysis of the damage to Fernando’s car, and its associated telemetry data, in order fully to understand the cause, or causes, of his accident. Even at this early stage, we have been able to reach some firm conclusions.

    His car ran wide at the entry to turn three – which is a fast uphill right-hander – allowing it to run onto the Astroturf that lines the outside of the track. A consequent loss of traction caused a degree of instability, spitting it back towards the inside of the circuit, where it regained traction and struck the wall side-on.

    Our findings indicate that the accident was caused by the unpredictably gusty winds at that part of the circuit at that time, and which had affected other drivers similarly (e.g. Carlos Sainz Jnr).

    We can categorically state that there is no evidence that indicates that Fernando’s car suffered mechanical failure of any kind. We can also confirm that absolutely no loss of aerodynamic pressure was recorded, which fact indicates that the car did not suffer any aerodynamic loss, despite the fact that it was subjected to a significant level of g-force. Finally, we can also disclose that no electrical discharge or irregularity of any kind occurred in the car’s ERS system, either before, during or after the incident.

    That last point refutes the erroneous rumours that have spread recently to the effect that Fernando was rendered unconscious by an electrical fault. That is simply not true. Our data clearly shows that he was downshifting while applying full brake pressure right up to the moment of the first impact – something that clearly would not have been possible had he been unconscious at the time.

    Our data also confirms that Fernando’s car struck the inside concrete wall, first with its front-right wheel and then with its rear-right. It was a significant lateral impact, resulting in damage to the front upright and axle.

    After the initial impact, the car slid down the wall for about 15 seconds before coming to a halt. All four wheels remained attached to the car, but no damage was sustained by the bodywork or crash structure between the front and rear wheels.

    We wish Fernando a very speedy recovery. As and when we have further updates to share, we will of course do so.

    • Ik blijf er een onbehaaglijk gevoel bij houden en denk ook dat er meer aan de hand is, alleen.......we weten het niet, we zijn maar race fans die dom gehouden worden.
      Het heeft er alle schijn van dat de mensen die nieuws naar buiten brengen, McLaren en ALO's manager, onderling met elkaar afgestemd hebben wat ze zeggen.

    Hoop dat Alonso zo snel mogelijk hersteld en aan de g krachten die mclaren liet zien, was naar mijn inzien veel te veel en zou ook dit kunnen rectificeren. Wil graag weten wat Alonso hierover te vertellen heeft.

    Bullshit !! Vettel reed er vlak achter of vangt die redbull geen wind .Moest deze versie nu kloppen wat ik al niet geloof hoe komt het dan dat alonso in het ziekenhuis ligt terwijl er amper schade aan de wagen is. Er is iets gebeurd met die wagen en het is wel heel duidelijk dat mclaren zich in elke bocht aan het wringen is om dit te verzwijgen .En moesten hun verhaal kloppen dan moeten ze dat chassis direct verbieden want dan ben je bij een echte crash morsdood in die wagen.

      @v6power .vergissing nog een oude gewoonde dacht aan vettel en schreef automatisch redbull is nog wennen.
      @pietje .tuurlijk is er niks mis met de veiligheid van het chassis .Ik wil maar zeggen als mclaren beweerd dat Alonso van de impact van zo een lichte crash nu al 2 nachten in het ziekenhuis moet blijven .Dan heb ik de voorbije jaren ofwel al honderden mirakels zien gebeuren waar coureurs bij veel zwaardere crashes zonder 1 schrammetje uit de wagen sprongen ofwel is dit levensgevaarlijk chassis ;-)

      Ik heb meer het vermoeden dat er iets is misgelopen wat absoluut niet mag uitkomen om zowel imagoschade (voor honda )en problemen met de fia te vermijden. Daar het volgens de meeste onmogelijk is om geëlektrocuteerd te worden en Alonso volgens Engelstalig media zelf op intensive care verblijft .
      Is de kans volgens mij toch groot dat de theorie van giftige gassen afkomstig van de batterij toch zeer waarschijnlijk is .Voor een lichte hersenschudding moet je geen 2 nachten in het ziekenhuis blijven .

      We zullen het waarschijnlijk nooit weten .Het is niet alsof honda naar buiten zou brengen dat Alonso vergiftigd werd door hun powerunit. En eens alonso terug is krijgen weer zon standaard voorgekauwd pr praatje van mclaren . Dus officieel zal het de wind blijven ;-)

    • @MIKKE1886: Hoe een crash er uit ziet heeft niets te maken met hoe veel impact een coureur krijgt te verduren. De hoek waar in de coureur de muur raakt maakt heel veel uit. Juist als de auto weinig schade heeft kan de impact voor de coureur mega zijn omdat de energie niet is geabsorbeerd door de auto. Een goed voorbeeld van een crash die op het eerste gezicht niet ernstig leek maar fataal was is de crash van Dale Earnhardt. Zoek die maar is op alvorens je vaker dit soort theorien oppert...

    Ok, ik neem mijn woorden over die stroomstoot terug, mijn excuses. Maar ik blijf erbij dat de McLaren-Honda levensgevaarlijk is niet door een stroomstoot maar door een windstoot.

    Dit als grapje bedoeld welteverstaan.

  • Uit voorzorg in een ziekenhuis verblijven.
    Als je een lichte hersenschudding hebt hoef niet eens 1 nacht in een ziekenhuis te blijven. Alleen bij een zwaardere hersenschudding.

    Als je leest dat hij wartaal uitsloeg en agressief gedrag vertoonde, wijst dat zeker op een zware hersenschudding. Hij is gewoon even goed van de kaart geweest.

    Wat de oorzaak ook is... McLaren doet hier net zo vaag over, als over de toestand van de auto

    • De narcose is een vertaalfout in ieder geval. Misschien vermoeden ze dat ie wel voor het ongeluk ff weg is geweest en willen ze m daarom langer houden.

  • Single front tyre mark - (not wide enough for rear) which suggests a single locked (inside) brake - ...... So - which suggests driver had no control over the brakes otherwise if he was braking then there would have been 2 braking tyre marks - So Fernando wasn't braking but car brake / steered into the wall by itself................ Therefore, don't expect McLaren to hold their hands up too quickly.

  • Wat een raar verhaal, er klopt gewoon iets niet. Waarom al die MRI scans? Narcose? Meerdere dagen in het ziekenhuis? Heus niet voor de impact van 15g. Auto zag er ook gewoon prima uit, weinig schade.

    Waarom reageerde Alonso 10 minuten niet? Waarom was hij kompleet van de kaart?

    Heeft Honda/McLaren wat te verbergen? Kan, maar dan zullen ze nooit keihard roepen dat het een fout van Alonso is geweest.

    In het ergste geval is het inderdaad een blackout - wegvallen/epileptische aanval oid geweest. Dan is het zo'n beetje einde carriere ben ik bang. Windvlaag alleen gaat er bij mij niet in.

    Dus we mogen hieruit opmaken dat Alonso een rijdersfout heeft gemaakt door een windvlaag!? Indien dit echt zo is, dan is het erg knullig. Ik ben nooit overtuigd geweest van wat velen roepen dat hij de meest complete coureur is, zeker niet de beste coureur. Maar gelukkig is hij okee en kan hij gewoon starten in Australie, voor hetzelfde geld was het anders afgelopen.

  • Waarom herstelde McHonda die wagen niet onmiddellijk (al was het provisoir met tape) om JB verder te laten testen? Weer een halve testdag eraan. Men zou haast denken dat er iets is dat ze niet meer vertrouwen.
