Nog geen interesse in Honda's F1-motor

Honda heeft nog geen potentiële nieuwe klanten weten te strikken voor haar Formule 1-motor. Dat laat Yasuhisa Arai, Motorsport Chief bij het Japanse bedrijf, weten. In 2015 verzorgt Honda de krachtbronnen voor McLaren, maar vanaf 2016 staat het bedrijf open voor andere teams.

Gisteren liet Arai weten dat het ontwikkelen van de motor voelt als een 'pop-up spelletje'. Elke keer dat een probleem wordt opgelost, steekt een ander technisch euvel haar kop op. Het idee om andere teams in 2016 te voorzien van een motor lijkt daardoor nog ver weg.

"We hebben nog geen aanbiedingen gekregen van andere teams. Misschien is Honda momenteel nog te mysterieus." Arai bedoelt hiermee dat naast de problemen van de Japanse krachtbron de echte performance van de motor nog onbekend is.

Toch lijkt voor Honda het licht aan het eind van de tunnel in zicht te zijn, aangezien Arai voorwaartse stappen zag in Barcelona: "We laten potentiële klanten nu steeds meer zien wat we kunnen. Maar we zitten in een lastige situatie. Kunnen wij de voorbereidingen treffen om een tweede team te voorzien van een motor tijdens het seizoen? Ik heb geen idee."

    Kwestie van een goede performance en betrouwbaarheid laten zien halverwege dit seizoen, vergelijkbaar met de andere motoren. Vvervolgens een prijs die lager is en de andere teams happen vanzelf toe. Te beginnen met armlastige teams als Manor en Sauber.

      Juist andersom. Zodra de performance beter wordt de prijs ook opdrijven. Vroege beslissers krijgen dus korting.

    Haha, ik hoop niet dat ze zelf verbaasd zijn dat ze hun product nog niet hebben kunnen verkopen. Hopelijk komt het nog.

    Gewoon een goede verkoper aanstellen.
    Motor met weinig km, altijd binnen gestaan en van een oud vrouwtje geweest.

      Arai is een vuile leugenaar, gisteren al een blokkie van marktplaats geplukt. Wil zeker niks met ons ducttapeteam te maken hebben.

    lijkt me logisch dat er nog geen interesse is. Honda heeft nog niets laten zien. Zal later in het jaar wellicht wel anders zijn.

    Ze hebben bij Honda (en McLaren) ook heel lang geroepen dat de deal in het begin toch vooral een exclusieve deal zou zijn.

      Dat vooral ja! Twee jaar lang roepen dat ze exclusief met McLaren werken en nu na twee mislukte testweken verbaast zijn dat er nog geen team is dat in 2016 met hun motoren wil rijden.

    Ik denk dat als ze hun zaken op order krijgen dit wel gaat veranderen. Maar ik had als ik Honda was, nooit een exclusieve samenwerking met alleen McLaren aangegaan.
