F1-ontwerper Gérard Ducarouge overleden

Een van de meest succesvolle ontwerpers in de Formule 1, Gérard Ducarouge, is overleden. De Fransman ontwierp tussen 1972 en 1974 de winnende Le Mans-wagens voor Matra en werkte in de Formule 1 voor Ligier, Alfa Romeo, Larrousse en Lotus.

Bij dat laatste team was Ducarouge verantwoordelijk voor de eerste overwinningen van Ayrton Senna. De Fransman werkte tussen 1983 en 1988 voor het team en wist samen met de Braziliaanse coureur zes zeges te behalen.

Gérard Ducarouge was al enige tijd ziek. De Fransman is 73 jaar oud geworden.
