Toro Rosso ontvangt deze week grote aerodynamische update

Technisch directeur James Key van Toro Rosso laat weten dat het team deze week een grote aerodynamische update zal ontvangen. De twee coureurs van het team reden afgelopen week ruim 400 ronden, maar de tijden die werden neergezet zijn volgens Key niet representatief van Toro Rosso's potentieel.

"Deze week, wanneer de auto uit de garage rijdt, zullen we pas kijken naar waar we ongeveer staan. We zullen geen verbijsterende rondetijden neerzetten en daar zijn twee redenen voor. Ten eerste staat er veel werk klaar voor de mechanische kant van de auto en banden. Dit konden we vorig jaar niet doen tijdens de wintertests en we willen nu beter voorbereid met het seizoen beginnen."

"Ten tweede rijden we momenteel met een interim auto. Mechanisch gezien is dit wat we zullen gebruiken in Melbourne, met hier en daar een paar veranderingen. Maar aerodynamisch gezien krijgt het deze week pas een enorme update. Dan zal de performance van de wagen verbeteren. Een andere reden waarom wij nog niet naar rondetijden kijken.

Klinkt goed. De Toro Rosso is zo betrouwbaar als wat en lijkt al redelijk snel te zijn. Mooie update er tegenaan en Max en Carlos stelen in Australië als rookies de show met puntenfinishes ;-)

    Geldt voor bijna alle teams dit. Iedereen komt met de specificaties van Melbourne op de proppen tijdens de laatste testweek. Het is dan ook de enige testweek waar we eigelijk pas iets uit kunnen gaan kunnen concluderen. Al weet je nog steeds niet met hoeveel benzine iedereen rijdt, maar toch zal het een pak duidelijker worden waar iedereen staat dan de vorige 3 testweken.

    Ik ben ook benieuwd.

    Het is ook wel heel hard nodig, zoals het er zich nu naar laat uitzien moet Torro Rosso sowieso Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, Lotus en Williams voor zich dulden en vrijwel zeker ook McLaren in de loop van het jaar. En dan is het nog de vraag of ze kunnen winnen van Force India en Sauber. Ik ben bang dat het niet meer word dan hier en daar een puntje sprokkelen.

    Ik zie wel na race 1 waar iedereen een beetje staat, dit lijkt mij allemaal iets te voorbarig.
    Elk seizoen gebeurt er wel iets onverwachts.

      Da's ook wel weer zo. wellicht dat de TR wel moeite heeft met de koude baan temperatuur tijdens de wintertests en gedragen de banden zich op hun de wagen veel beter bij wat hogere temperaturen.
