Eigenaar energieleverancier achter redding Manor

De grootste investeerder die verantwoordelijk is voor de wederopstanding van Manor is bekendgemaakt: Stephen Fitzpatrick van energieleverancier Ovo. Hij zou de deal met eigen middelen hebben gefinancierd. Ook de voormalige eigenaar van de Sainsbury supermarktketen krijgt aandelen bij het bedrijf.

Bronnen laten aan de BBC weten dat Fitzpatrick F1-fanaat is en daarom al jaren keek naar een mogelijkheid meer betrokken te raken in de sport. Hij keek ook al een tijdje naar mogelijkheden in de Formule E, maar heeft nu de knoop doorgehakt met Manor.

Fitzpatrick zou daarnaast achter de deals zitten met Ferrari en McLaren, die allebei hebben laten weten het Engelse team te helpen terug te keren naar de startgrid.

Volgens berichten is de nieuwe wagen van Manor nu compleet en is de enige horde op dit moment het slagen van de crashtest. Deze zou volgende week dinsdag moeten plaatsvinden. Volgende week vrijdag vertrekt het team dan ook richting Melbourne.

    Wat goed zeg!

    Ik vond de grid wel wat te klein voor dit jaar en nu stata er tenminste weer een volwaardige groep wagens.

    Wie weet doen ze het niet eens zo slecht.

    Die voormalige eigenaar is de vader van Jordan King, dus mocht Manor dit seizoen overleven, weet ik wie er met lange termijnplanning bezig is geweest ;)

      Inderdaad, maar dan denk ik dat King het komend jaar heel erg goed zal moeten doen in de GP2. Want met een 6e en 7e plaats in het F3 en een 2e plaats in het Brits F3 heeft hij niet voldoende punten voor een super licentie. Persoonlijk denk ik dat hij voldoende talent heeft, het valt alleen momenteel niet allemaal op zijn plek!

      Stop toch eens met VDG.
      Die is gewogen, te licht bevonden en heft zijn tijd in de F1 gehad.
      Straks willen ze D'Ambrosio nog terug in de F1.
      Laat ons één keer ons niet bekommeren om de nationaliteit en aankomende talenten hun kans geven in de F1.

      Een samenwerkingsverband met een team zegt niks. Ron dennis heeft geroepen dat McLaren de samenwerking met manor niet intensiveert en alles bij het oude laat. Stoffel gaat voor het gp2 kampioenschap. Wellicht 3e rijder ? Ik ga er wel vanuit dat er een aantal vrijdag testers worden aangekondigd.

      en als je Giedo in die auto zet word een niet in een F1 fabriek(die is immers verkocht) gebouwde auto ineens snel en betrouwbaar?

      Met alle redelijkheid en ongeacht de nationaliteit van Giedo.

      Er is momenteel geen coureur beschikbaar welke een beter budget, dergelijk talent en dusdanig veel ervaring heeft. Dus daarmee is Giedo zeer zeker een serieuze kandidaat al was hij Ethiopiër.
      Maar ik weet niet of de finaciële mensen achter Giedo dit wel willen, dan moeten er echt hele goede garanties komen voor beide partijen en de plannen perspectief tonen.

      Het argument dat Giedo te licht bevonden is vind ik overigens wel het meest domme en kortzichtige argument! Soms heb ik het idee dat die mensen de autosport echt totaal niet begrijpen.
