Coulthard benieuwd naar Ricciardo in leidersrol

Oud-coureur David Coulthard gaat met meer dan gemiddelde belangstelling de verrichtingen van Red Bull Racing-duo Daniel Ricciardo en Daniil Kvyat volgen dit jaar. Voor Ricciardo is het nodige veranderd, het team kijkt nu tegen hem op nadat hij vorig seizoen afrekende met Sebastian Vettel.

Dit jaar neemt de Australiër het op tegen tweedejaars Formule 1-rijder Daniil Kvyat. Men zal verwachten dat Ricciardo de Rus verslaat, denkt ook Coulthard. "Het wordt interessant om te kijken hoe Daniel omgaat met de druk als leider bij Red Bull Racing", zegt hij tegenover persbureau AAP.

"Iedereen rekent erop dat Ricciardo wel even voor Kvyat eindigt, maar wat als het andersom is? Hoe reageert Daniel dan? Aan de andere kant vertolkte hij vorig jaar in feite al de rol van leider. Een viervoudig wereldkampioen als Sebastian Vettel had geen antwoord op hem."

    Nou daar hoeft hij iig niet bang voor te zijn, want Kvyat sprong er afgelopen jaar ook niet uit. Lees ook uit andere bronnen dat het verschil Ricciardo vs. Kvyat nogal groot is met de huidige auto, maar kan ook aan de auto zelf liggen.

    Ik zie in Ricciardo een potentiële wereldkampioen. Het zou mooi zijn als de Renault motoren het dit jaar beter doen dan vorig jaar. Vorig jaar met een veel mindere krachtbron toch 3 overwinningen weten te pakken. Wat Kvyat betreft, ik verwacht niet dat hij boven Ricciardo uit kan komen, beetje hetzelfde als Mark Webber bij RBR en Coulthard bij McLaren. Al met al wel een team om naar uit te kijken!

    Het afrekenen met Vettel vind ik toch wel erg overdreven. Als Vettel niet zo een problemen met de auto had, dan was het natuurlijk een ander verhaal geweest. Daarbij is Vettel op de technisch moeilijke circuits de betere gebleken en kon Ricciardo hem niet bijhouden. Ook Canada was een race die door Vettel gewonnen moest worden, maar door het vage handelen van RB heeft hij dit niet gehaald. Hongarije was ook al zo vaag vond ik. Ik denk toch nog altijd dat Vettel in principe de betere van de twee is. In de vorige Red Bull's denk ik dat Ricciardo het nazien had.

      Natuurlijk is Vettel dat ook, iedere coureur heeft er wel 1 of meerdere slechte seizoenen bij zitten. Kijk naar zijn verleden en niemand kan het ontkennen.

      Ik ben altijd verbaasd over de uitleg waarom het Vettel zo tegen gezeten heeft; Red Bull's fout, Renault's fout, pech, Horner's fout, Ricciardo's geluk....

      Over een heel seizoen, twintig races, heeft iedereen zijn portie geluk en pech. Eind van de streep heeft Ricciardo Vettel overduidelijk verslagen!

      @ Speedpuppet: Uiteraard heeft elke coureur een zwakker jaar gehad. Elke groot kampioen kent zijn of haar mindere momenten. Maar nu zal blijken of Vettel een groot kampioen is of dat het de coureur was die op het juiste moment in de juiste wagen zat.

      Dus jij gelooft eerder dat hij zijn hele carrière geluk heeft gehad en altijd alleen maar de juiste wagen onder zijn kont heeft gehad dan dat hij nu een off-year heeft?

      Ik geloof wel dat hij even een jaar wat minder gemotiveerd was overigens.

    Ik heb geen idee waarom men zo negatief is over Kvyat, enkel omdat hij tijdens de tests wat foutjes maakte en zich niet van voren liet zien? Kan ook dat mensen Kvyat als concurrent van Max zien en hem als graadmeter nemen. Ik ben van mening dat Kvyat juist gaat verrassen dit seizoen en het Ricciardo flink lastig gaat maken. Hij moet alleen nog wat constanter in de races worden, kwalificatiesnelheid is erg goed. We gaan het zien.

      Klopt,

      Als we goed gevolgd hebben dan hebben we vorig jaar kunnen zien dat kvyat voor zover in te schatten caliber Ricciardo is. Sterker nog ik zag kvyat soms betere dingen doen ket die toro rosso dan riciardo maar dat kan natuurlijk aan de auto van dat jaar liggen.
      Kortom, het zou mij niks verbazen als kvyat riciiardo het vuur aan de schenen legt.

    Ik denk dat als Max dit jaar het redt om meer punten te scoren dan Kyvat we allemaal weten wie er volgend jaar in die redbull rond rijdt :)
