FIA schrijft wellicht tender voor nieuwe teams uit

De internationale autosportbond FIA overweegt een tender voor nieuwe teams uit te schrijven. Dat verkondigde voorzitter Jean Todt in gesprek met de New York Times. De Fransman sympathiseert met de teams in financiële problemen, maar tegelijkertijd lukt het hem niet om concrete voorstellen voor een goedkopere Formule 1 erdoorheen te drukken.

Todt: "Ik ben niet blij dat Caterham kopje onder is gegaan en Manor/Marussia bijna ook. Mijn sympathie gaat uit naar de noodlijdende teams, maar zo is het altijd gegaan in de Formule 1. In 2016 treedt met Haas een nieuwe renstal toe. Wellicht schrijven we binnenkort een tender uit voor één of twee nieuwe teams, om geïnteresseerde partijen een duwtje in de rug te geven. En we gaan proberen de kosten te reduceren."

Eventuele nieuwkomers hoeven niet bang te zijn dat de motorformule op korte termijn weer op de schop gaat. "De introductie van de V6 turbo is een van de weinige zinvolle beslissingen die de afgelopen jaren in de Formule 1 zijn genomen. Dit is de koningsklasse van de autosport, de Formule 1 vertolkt een voorbeeldfunctie voor de maatschappij. De Formule 1 mag de ogen niet sluiten voor de ontwikkelingen in de rest van de wereld", aldus Todt.

    Nieuw bloed in de Formule 1 is in mijn ogen altijd goed.

    Aan nieuwe teams kleven ook nieuwe visies. Blijft altijd interessant.

      Ben ik met je eens. Echter veel meer kan Jean Todt op het moment ook niet meer doen... "maar tegelijkertijd lukt het hem niet om concrete voorstellen voor een goedkopere Formule 1 erdoorheen te drukken."
      Dit komt omdat hij in ruil voor 40 miljoen Euro voor een "passend Fia Hoofdkwartier" zijn macht heeft afgestaan aan de Strategy Group. Hem resten nu alleen nog dit soort pogingen maar hij is momenteel een tandenloze tijger. Helaas ...

    Heel simpel, rijke Privateers met 1 klantenauto en ondersteuning door het fabrieksteam(transport,opslag enz) bestuurd door aanstormend talent.!

      vind ik op zich geen slecht idee om naast de professionele f1 teams ook de deur open te zetten voor rijke avonturiers met desgewenst 1 klantenauto, een mooi vol veld zorgt voor meer actie en een mooiere f1, bovendien meer kansen voor talent, ik vind dat het veld zeker uit 26 wagens mag bestaan

    ach: Caterham voegde eigenlijk ook niks toe, nu is er tenminste weer ruimte voor een team dat wel serieus mee zou kunnen doen.

      En welke teams staan er volgens jou buiten Haas nog meer in de wachtrij dan om die ruimte op te vullen?
      Ik zie het gebeuren dat we dit seizoen nog 2 teams zien omvallen, volgend jaar met Haas erbij hebben we weer een mager veld.

    Er zitten een aantal grote weeffouten in de Formule 1. We hebben natuurlijk de motor issues. Dat is er eentje. De allergrootste en belangrijkste weeffout is natuurlijk het kostenplaatje. En de conservatieve houding van de FIA jegens nieuwe teams.

    Schrijf een tender uit van tenminste vijf teams. Dat lijkt me een stuk realistischer. En meer wat de F1 nodig heeft.

      helemaal mee eens.
      Elders las ik dat Jean Todt "overweegt nieuwe teams toe te laten" (?)
      De FIA zou juist alles in het werk moeten stellen om nieuwe teams aan te trekken en er zo voor te zorgen dat we z.s.m. weer een fatsoenlijk veld hebben met tenminste 24 wagens. En werken aan dat kostenplaatje idd. Maar ik denk dat die Todt, corrupt als hij is, liever naar de pijpen van de grote teams danst zodat hij lekker zijn zakken kan vullen i.p.v. in het belang van de sport handelen, wordt tijd dat Todt samen met Bernie opsodemietert
