Button overwoog te stoppen voor olympische carrière

Jenson Button heeft overwogen om te stoppen met de Formule 1, om zich toe te kunnen leggen op een eventuele deelname aan de Olympische Spelen van 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Hij zou zich dan willen focussen op een hobby van hem, namelijk triatlons.

"Ik dacht aan Rio en vervolgens heb ik besloten het niet te doen", aldus Button. "Ten eerste ben ik veel te oud. Ik ben een aardige amateur atleet maar iedere professional in goede doen is van een compleet ander niveau dan ik ben."

De wereldkampioen van 2009 bereid zich momenteel naast zijn Formule 1-activiteiten voor op de marathon van Londen. Deze wordt gehouden in april.
