Vettel: "Podium voelt als een zege"

Sebastian Vettel is zijn eerste race in dienst van Ferrari als derde geëindigd. De Duitser hoefde enkel het oppermachtige Mercedes-duo voor zich te dulden en was dan ook erg blij met zijn podium. Over de radio riep de Duitser woorden die de Italianen waarschijnlijk hebben kunnen waarderen: "Forza Ferrari."

"Ik heb uiteraard niet gewonnen, maar zo voelt het wel voor me", aldus Vettel. "Vooral na het verschrikkelijke seizoen dat ik vorig jaar had. Het voelt erg goed. Er is een aardig gat met Mercedes en het is niet leuk om te zien dat ze een halve minuut voor je rijden, maar we hebben een prima auto om mee te werken."

De teamgenoot van Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, zag de eindstreep niet. De Fin moest de strijd staken dat bij zijn tweede pitsstop het linker achterwiel niet goed gemonteerd was. Raikkonen was een van de vele uitvallers tijdens de seizoensopener in Melbourne.

      Waarom heeft men het hier altijd over haters enz, hoe oud zijn we.....

      Ayrton, als je niet van het overhypte gedoe houdt, waarom ben je dan de grootste fan van Hamilton? Als er een overhyped doet, is hij het wel haha, te zien aan het podium vandaag alleen al.

    Dit podium was dan ook niet zo heel moeilijk te behalen voor Vettel.
    De enige die hem van het podium kon afhalen was Massa.
    De rest van de betere auto's deden niet mee of vielen uit tijdens de wedstrijd inclusief zijn teamgenoot.
    Maar toch een derde plek en daar gaat het om.

      @ Sailor,

      Laat ik het weer een keer voor Vettel opnemen, voordat ik weer als Vettelhater wordt gezien. (ik ben alleen allergisch voor dat vingertje en overhyped gedoe).
      Hij heeft top gereden en het maximale uit die Ferrari gehaald. Uit een mindere positie dan Massa er toch voorbij komen. Slechte strategie van Williams of goed gedaan door Ferrari.
      Zonder dat incident van Kimi, was waarschijnlijk Kimi 3 en Vettel 4 geworden.

      Kimi had flink door moeten stampen als hij Massa en Vettel had gewild. Hij had namelijk een extra stop gemaakt. Voordat hij weer bij die twee in de buurt was dan was de race zeer waarschijnlijk al afgelopen.

    Derde plaats en toch tevreden, ik moet er nog even aan wennen ;)

    Maar serieus, is gewoon een goede prestatie gezien waar ze vandaan komen. Beetje irritant dat Kimi weer stront aan de knikker had, maar P3 en P5 om mee te beginnen zou gewoon heel goed zijn geweest.

    Ik kan me alleen niet voorstellen dat Ferrari in dit seizoen nog 1 seconde meer gaat vinden dan Mercedes, dus dat maakt dat het seizoen al redelijk snel kan worden afgeschreven.

    De vraag is wat nou bij Mercedes die ene seconde oplevert? Want laten we wel wezen; Williams, Lotus en FI zitten echt ver achter dit team met (neem ik aan) dezelfde motor.

      tsja, echt tevreden?
      Het was voor aanvang race natuurlijk al duidelijk dat een 3e positie achter Mercedes onder normale omstandigheden het maximaal haalbare zou zijn, de wagen is redelijk ok, verschil met MB is natuurlijk wel groot maar zolang ze het gevecht van Williams winnen kunnen ze wellicht profitieren als het bij MB eens tegenzit, daar hoop ik dan maar op, een beetje de positie van RB vorig seizoen, de 3e plaats was iig een lekkere binnenkomer

    Ik zie een compleet andere Vettel nu hij bij Ferrari rijdt. Ik ben nooit fan geweest, tot Singapore 2013 waar ik het ineens zag en ik hem wel mocht. Ik voel wat Schumacher steekjes, met een snelle Duitser in de Ferrari. Hopelijk hoor ik dit seizoen minstens 1 keer het Duits-Italiaans (naast hopelijk ook nog het Nederlands-Italiaans maar die kans acht ik niet heel erg groot)

    Wat ik nog even kwijt wil, is dat het Ferrari rood goed staat bij Sebastian Vettel.

    Ik leef nog in de tijd dat Mika bij McLaren hoorde, net als later Kimi en Lewis. Of Schumacher bij Ferrari in plaats van bij Mercedes...
    Kimi hoort gevoelsmatig niet bij Ferrari en Lewis niet bij Mercedes AMG F1, maar de overgang van Vettel, van Red Bull Racing naar Ferrari heb ik heel wat minder moeite mee.

    Alsof het zo heeft moeten zijn...
