Booth: "Manor overleefde door punten Bianchi"

Dat Manor F1 Team nog bestaat is voor een groot deel te danken aan Jules Bianchi. Dat stelt teambaas John Booth in Auto Hebdo. Bianchi scoorde vorig jaar in Monaco twee belangrijke punten voor Marussia. Booth: "Jules had er in Australië bij moeten zijn om onze doorstart mee te maken."

De Fransman ligt alleen nog altijd in een coma na een ernstig ongeluk in de Japanse Grand Prix van vorig jaar. Booth: "Ik denk bijna elke dag nog aan Jules. Hoewel we niet hebben kunnen rijden in Melbourne was het voor ons wel een overwinning om de eerste race van het seizoen te halen. Ik hoop met heel mijn hart dat Jules zijn strijd ook wint."

"Zonder de punten die hij in Monaco voor ons in de wacht sleepte hadden we niet meer bestaan. Dat is wat de investeerders overtuigde van de potentie van ons team. Dat we racen is onze manier om te zeggen dat iets niet voorbij is zolang de finishvlag niet is gevallen. Ik weet niet of onze aanwezigheid op de circuits zijn ouders enige steun biedt. Ik hoop van wel."

"Manor heeft de zwaarste beproeving uit haar bestaan overleefd en ik twijfel er niet aan dat Jules zich ook terug gaat knokken. Wat wij deze winter weer opgebouwd hebben is een teken van wat er allemaal mogelijk is als je maar gelooft. Jules, je team denkt aan je."

Ik denk dat Jules nooit meer bijkomt en dat hij helaas zal sterven. Wel heel cru dit.
