Renault-top gaf opdracht voor kritiek op Red Bull

De opmerkingen van Renault Sport F1-directeur Cyril Abiteboul aan het adres van Red Bull Racing zijn hem van hogerhand opgelegd. Dat beweert F1-insider.com. De raad van commissarissen bij Renault was het zat om steeds maar aan te moeten horen dat ze een slechte motor leverden.

Daarop kreeg Abiteboul de opdracht om tegengas te bieden. De Fransman betichtte Red Bull Racing ervan leugens te verkopen. Dat de Oostenrijkse renstal nu zoveel tekort komt ligt niet alleen aan de aandrijflijn. Het chassis van de RB11 laat ook nog veel te wensen over.

Voor Maleisië is de verbale oorlog even op een laag pitje gezet. Renault heeft de software verbeterd en een nieuw afstellingsprogramma voor de Red Bull-teams. Helmut Marko: "We beschouwen deze kwestie nu als gesloten en kijken constructief naar de toekomst."

Hopelijk gaan ze nu samen werken aan een zo optimaal mogelijke setup.
