Bottas heeft geen last van zijn rug in trainingen

Williams-coureur Valtteri Bottas heeft de vrijdag voor de Grand Prix van Maleisië moeiteloos doorstaan. De Fin liep twee weken geleden in de kwalificatie in Australië nog een rugblessure op, maar daar had hij vandaag totaal geen last van tijdens de vrije trainingen op Sepang. Hij reed in de tweede sessie 31 ronden en noteerde de vijfde tijd.

Bottas: "De veranderingen aan mijn zitpositie hebben een positieve uitwerking gehad en het was fijn om geheel pijnvrij te kunnen rijden. Ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat ik ook de rest van dit weekend geen last van mijn rug zal hebben. De baan was vrij stoffig voor de eerste training en tijdens de tweede sessie was het erg heet. De korte runs waren goed, maar tijdens mijn lange run raakte een van mijn brake ducts beschadigd, dus het is lastig daar accurate feedback over te geven."

"Ferrari was misschien iets sterker dan we verwacht hadden. We weten dat we nog het nodige kunnen verbeteren voor morgen, zoals met de balans of door met weinig brandstof te rijden en door de motor zwaarder te belasten. Of het genoeg is, ik weet het niet. Ferrari maakt een goede indruk. Morgen na de kwalificatie weten we meer."
