Honda doet beroep op McLaren-hulptroepen

Honda heeft ingezien dat het de problemen niet op eigen kracht te boven komt. Dat verklaarde Eric Boullier, racing director bij McLaren, in El Pais. De hereniging tussen de Britse renstal en de Japanse autofabrikant is vooralsnog geen doorslaand succes.

McLaren-Honda is nog niet snel genoeg en de betrouwbaarheid laat te wensen over. Ze hebben elkaar nodig om de situatie te verbeteren. Boullier: "Honda erkent dat ze meer hulp nodig hebben van onze mensen. Niet zozeer met de motor zelf, maar meer met alles daaromheen."

In Maleisië waren al tekenen van progressie zichtbaar. Boullier: "Als team zitten we op negentig procent. De laatste tien procent kunnen we halen uit het feit dat we twee verschillende culturen beter op elkaar af kunnen stemmen."
