'Ferrari in Canada met pakket updates voor V6'

Ferrari introduceert bij de Grand Prix van Canada een sterk verbeterde motor waarmee ze het gat naar Mercedes helemaal zouden moeten overbruggen. Dat nieuws is afkomstig uit het Red Bull-kamp, van motorsportadviseur Helmut Marko om precies te zijn.

"Volgens mijn informatie heeft Ferrari een pakket updates voor de aandrijflijn voor Canada", verwijst hij in Bild naar de race op het circuit van Montreal in juni. "Dan zullen ze het niveau van Mercedes bereiken of misschien zelfs wel beter zijn."

Zelf loopt Red Bull Racing achter de feiten aan. De Renault V6 is niet goed genoeg en de RB11 is ook nog geen meesterwerk. De Oostenrijkse renstal werkt hard aan een upgrade, maar die liep vertraging op omdat de korte neus nog niet door de crashtests is gekomen.

Marko: "Zodra de nieuwe onderdelen arriveren zullen we een significante stap vooruit zetten. Maar met dit stomme token-systeem voor de motorontwikkeling is het voor ons onmogelijk om de achterstand in te lopen."

Was de Renault-motor niet beter dan de Ferrari-motor vorig jaar? Wat doet Ferrari met de tokens wat Renault niet doet?

    Was de Renault-motor niet beter dan de Ferrari-motor vorig jaar? Wat doet Ferrari met de tokens wat Renault niet doet?

      Ferrari heeft een zeer elegante oplossing voor hun V6 Turbomotoren geintroduceerd aan het begin van 2014. Deze is de basis voor het succes vandaag, al duurde het een vol jaar om de voordelen daarvan te benuttigen. ScarbsF1 heeft er een heel artikel over geschreven aan het einde van 2014, toen ook Mercedes haar motor officieel presenteerde na het winnen van het kampioenschap. Renault heeft een motor die vooral significant meer problemen met koeling geeft, hoewel daar ook veel potentie in zit. Budgetair denk ik dat Ferrari iets meer te makken heeft.

      Die Marko heeft wel Verstappen weten te strikken namens RedBull dus dat is wel oké. Hij heeft gelijk dat hij begint over die domme tokens. Wat een (Red)bullshit is dat zeg.

      Net als dat suffe brandstof sparen. Afgelopen weekeinde ook IRL gezien en die halen makkelijk 12000 toeren, f1 moet daar makkelijk aan komen en nog meer maar kan niet door die domme regels als 100 kg brandstof in het eerste uur verstoken. Wat een ongelooflijke onzin net als die motorregels zoals vier per jaar of misschien wel vijf wat ik hoorde dit weekeinde.

      Renault is het echt niet verleerd om iets fatsoenlijks te bouwen alleen de randvoorwaarden kunnen ze niet helemaal accepteren of goed interpreteren. Dan ga je uiteraard klagen maar dat geklaag vind ik meer dan terecht want meneer Mateschitz verliest mede daardoor de interesse in zijn hobby net als vele fans wereldwijd.

    Hoewel het mooie geluiden zijn hoop ik toch dat het eerder is dan juni. Canada is de 7e race, en als Ferrari erin slaagt om dichtbij Mercedes te blijven, kunnen we nog (onverwacht toch) een spannend tweede seizoenshelft beleven.

      Ik heb eerder andere berichten gehoord; een "tussentijdse" update (doel is volgens mij Spaanse GP) met in de basis de specs van Barcelona dag 3 en 4. Hierdoor zou het gat naar Mercedes <20PK zijn, wat nu +/- 40 PK is. Daarnaast lees ik af en toe ook berichten over een grotere turbo, het is mij niet duidelijk of dit onderdeel is van de bovengenoemde update of de "grote" update die voor een inhaalslag 2e helft van het seizoen moet zorgen.

      Mercedes staat ook niet stil he en hebben ook nog tokens over. Het is moeilijk te voorspellen hoe de verhoudingen in Spanje en vanaf Canada zijn. Maar het zou mooi zijn voor Ferrari als ze het gat 100% weten te dichten.

    Zou dit niet het bekende risotto in ogen strooien van Mercedes zijn?
    Je gaat toch niet aankondigen wanneer je met een update van je blok ten tonele verschijnt?
    Hopelijk komt Ferrari er veel eerder mee en zijn ze bij Mercedes er nog niet op voorbereid.

      Allison: The goal is to bridge the gap with #Mercedes and be assured to fight with them in every race. It's obvious that they will not stop, but we have also have in plan an aggressive development program during the season and we believe we can extract a lot of performance out of the car in the next few races. I am sure that we will be competitive in China as in Sepang

    Boehoehoe! Herr Helmut blijft maar doorgaan over hoe vreselijk het allemaal wel niet is.
    Man, hou eens op en doe je werk, net als Ferrari heeft gedaan. Wees een vent, geen cry baby ;)
    De gun factor voor RBR wordt met elke uitspraak van hem minder, het wordt tijd voor een spreekverbod lijkt me!

    Als Renault het token-susteem goed gebruikt, kunnen ook hun die achterstand inhalen. Het kan ook zijn dat de motor in de basis een slechte motor is, maar dat lijkt mij sterk. Ik hoop dat het waar is en Ferrari inderdaad met een sterkere motor komt.

    Wel erg bijzonder dat nu Allison er gekomen is, de bandenslijtage van de Ferrari erg laag is en de auto vooral in warme conditie erg goed presteert. Dit doet me echt denken aan de Lotus met Kimi en Grosjean, waar dezelfde Allison het roer in handen had.

      Bij Ferrari hadden ze de bandenslijtage dat jaar ook goed onder controle alleen RBR en vooral Mercedes hadden daar last van.
