Formule E onthult lay-out voor race in Monaco

De Formule E reist op 9 mei af naar Monaco voor de zevende ronde van het seizoen 2014/2015. Het prinsdom is natuurlijk bekend vanwege de jaarlijkse Formule 1 Grand Prix. Voor de ePrix is de lay-out van het stratencircuit wat ingekort. De Formule E-coureurs gaan na Ste Devote niet omhoog naar Massanet, maar ze gaan beneden langs om via een hairpin waar normaal de Nouvelle Chicane zich bevindt terug te keren op het bekende parkoers richting Tabac. Ze rijden dus niet door de tunnel.

    Jammer dat ze niet de volledige echte ronde doen. Dan zou je goed kunnen zien wat het verschil in rondetijd en per sector is tussen formule E en formule 1.

      Laten ze daar op dit moment in de ontwikkeling van de serie nou geen behoeft aan hebben ;) Schijnt dat de prestaties een beetje tussen een f3 en een gp2 auto in zitten. Laten ze eerst maar wat jaren doorontwikkelen waardoor de serie een meer representatieve snelheid ten toon sprijt.

      Het lijkt me sterk dat Formula E sneller is dan F3. Qua topsnelheid zit er al 50 kilometer verschil (FE 225 km/u, F3 275 km/u), gewicht: FE 888kg tegenover F3 550kg. BHP: FE 268, F3 210. Tevens lijken mij de Formule E wagens geen aerodynamische wonders.

      FE heeft dus enkel 25-30% meer paardenkracht, maar dat is ook wel nodig om die 320 kilo aan batterijen mee te leuren. De gewicht/pk ratio spreekt natuurlijk dik in het voordeel van F3.

      Inderdaad, de FE gaat echt niet sneller zijn dan de F3. Dat is ook een van de grote kritiekpunten op de serie, de wagens zijn bijzonder traag. Maar als je er naar kijkt, valt dat niet zo op, omdat de auto's gewoon heel moeilijk te besturen zijn en er best wel wat actie te beleven valt.

      @TRULLLA, @RUNNINGUPTHATHILL: hoogstwaarschijnlijk heb ik alleen het commerciele verhaal van de FE gelezen en mij niet genoeg verdiept in de specs. Idd met de getallen die jullie geven is het onmogelijk sneller rond te gaan dan de F3. Ik hoop dat ze daar wel stappen in gaan maken de aankomende jaren...

      Kan me trouwens voorstellen dat de topsnelheid bewust niet zo hoog is en de bakverhouding kort omdat er alleen op straten circuits gereden wordt waar je toch geen hoge topsnelheid haalt.

      De bak is 'fixed' (dus er valt niet aan te sleutelen) om kosten te besparen. Topsnelheid is op straten circuits inderdaad minder van belang, echter rijden ze enkel op straten circuits omdat het er dan minder 'langzaam' uit ziet. Ik gok dat ze wel harder kunnen dan 225km/u, maar dat gaat zeer ten koste van de batterij.

      Momenteel hebben ze voor 1 race (incl auto wissel) 640 kilo aan batterij nodig om het een race vol te houden. Daar valt dan ook nog het meest te winnen.

      Haha ja zoiets. Ik vind het nu nog geen ruk aan maar ik zie wel de lange termijn. Uiteindelijk zit er wel degelijk toekomst in en kan het uitgroeien tot de nieuwe F1. Verbrandingsmotors zijn tenslotte aan het eind van hun evolutie gekomen. Iemand moet ergens beginnen en dat begin is nu gemaakt met de Formule E. Zo zie ik het en daarom gun ik ze wel succes en verbetering.
      Een Formule W (niet tegen de wratten) van Waterstof juich ik ook toe.

      Ja de peut is op een gegeven moment in ieder geval ook gewoon op. Geen ontkomen aan. Ik vind t ook prima probeersels. Beter dat soort van initiatieven dan bijv. proberen F2 nieuw leven in te blazen terwijl er al legio mogelijkheden zijn.
