Auto GP annuleert seizoensopener in Marrakech

Het zesde seizoen van het Auto GP-kampioenschap vangt begin mei aan in Boedapest. De organisatie, onder leiding van Enzo Coloni, besloot om de oorspronkelijke openingsronde van 2015 in Marrakech, Marokko te annuleren.

Deze beslissing werd genomen vanwege de moeilijke politieke situatie in de Noord-Afrikaanse gebieden in de afgelopen maanden. Als gevolg hiervan zal de openingsronde plaats vinden in Boedapest. Auto GP zal de krachten bundelen met het World Touring Car Championship op de Hungaroring op 3 mei. Beide races worden live uitgezonden door Eurosport.

Enzo Coloni: "Helaas zijn we gedwongen om af te zien van de ronde gepland voor 19 april in Marokko. We hebben alles gedaan wat we konden om te racen in Marrakech, maar ondanks pogingen om de veiligheid van teams en rijders te waarborgen hebben we moeten besluiten om het begin van het seizoen uit te stellen tot Boedapest. In de jaren hiervoor hebben we ons in Marokko altijd thuis gevoeld en we zullen zeker het enthousiasme van de toeschouwers daar missen. We hopen volgend jaar terug te keren."

      welk kinderachtig figuur zit er hier zonder argumenten te minnen?

      dat die WTCC race doorgaat is een feit, er is dus niks aan de hand met de politieke situatie in Marokko.

      Net nog een foto gezien die Tom Coronel twitterde van zijn auto op weg naar Marokko, die race gaat dus gewoon door.

      de AutoGP heeft dus andere problemen en probeert dat te ontkennen.

    Toch maar even op het net gekeken , en ik schrok van het aantal deelnemers, 10 stuks dit jaar. Enige coureur die ik ken is Antonia Pizzonia. Lijkt me duidelijk dat deze serie ten dode is opgeschreven.

      op de Engelse Wikipedia zie ik zelfs nog maar 2 coureurs die bevestigd zijn(en die pagina is vandaag nog bijgewerkt):

      en als ik de lijst van coureurs zie die aan de tests meededen (8 stuks) rijd Pizzonia dit jaar al in de Brazilliaanse Stock Car, Sebastian Balthasar rijd dit jaar GP3, Rene Binder rijd dit jaar GP2 en Francesco Dracone rijd dit jaar Indycar.

      die hebben dus alleen getest en zullen zeker niet racen in de AutoGP.

      Als sommige hier nou eens door de medische keuring zouden komen en geen geld hoefde in te leggen, dan konden er een hoop rijden hoor.

      Ik vind het vreemd dat Manor MP Motorsport nog geen Nederlander heeft aangemeld...
      Terwijl er nog genoeg "talent" rond rijdt.
