Toro Rosso tevreden met enorme stap Renault

Renault heeft tussen Australië en Maleisië veel progressie geboekt. Dat stelt James Key, technisch directeur bij Scuderia Toro Rosso. Renault kreeg na de seizoensopener in Melbourne veel kritiek te verduren, met name van Red Bull Racing, omdat de motor niet goed genoeg was. Op Sepang liet de Franse autofabrikant zich al van een betere kant zien.

Key deelde aan Autosport mede: "Ik moet zeggen dat Renault een enorme stap heeft gezet na Melbourne. In Australië kampten we nog met problemen met de rijbaarheid en dat soort dingen. Renault heeft puik werk geleverd door ons voor Maleisië te voorzien van een pakket waar de rijders tevreden mee waren."

"Het is nog niet perfect, maar het was al veel beter dan tijdens de eerste race. Die performance hebben we ook nodig, want Ferrari is veel sterker dan vorig jaar en Mercedes is nog steeds goed. Na een listig weekend in Melbourne heeft Renault zich echter effectief herpakt."
