WEC: Audi net te sterk voor Porsche en Toyota

Audi heeft de seizoenopener in het World Endurance Championship gewonnen. Marcel Fässler, Benoit Treluyer en Andre Lotterer hadden na zes uur racen op Silverstone een voorsprong van slechts vier seconden op de eerste auto van Porsche.

Het podium bevatte drie verschillende merken, want Anthony Davidson, Kazuki Nakajima en Sebastien Buemi kwamen namens Toyota op veertien seconden van de winnaars over de finish. Het ziet ernaar uit dat de autofabrikanten in de LMP1-klasse elkaar weinig ontlopen.

Nissan ontbrak in Silverstone nog, het debuut van de GT-R LM Nismo staat gepland voor de 24 uur van Le Mans. In de LMP2-klasse ging de winst naar de Ligier-Nissan met startnummer 26, bestuurd door Roman Rusinov, Julian Canal en Sam Bird.
